As we traveled around Scotland, Ireland and even Northern Ireland David was busily snapping photos of different houses and the homes where people live in those countries. He usually stayed away from homes in the cities and instead focused on places in the far corners of each location. It is fascinating to see how other people live. Especially when there is not a store or gas station for miles around. It always makes me imagine what it would be like to live there myself.
I would love to say we have lots of details to pass on with each house, but we don’t. Most of them just grabbed our attention as we drove by, so we got a picture. For this post the pictures will tell the story more than we coumd with our own words.
Can you imagine living in any of these houses? What is your favorite? Are any of them a hard pass for you?
The first seven below are all from the southern and middle parts of the Isle of Skye.
The next few are all from the northern part of the Isle of Skye in Scotland.
The next few are back on the mainland in Scotland. We were still in the Highlands, so north of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The one below was recently converted into a Bed & Breakfast.
This next one was on the banks of Loch Ness.
The rest of the homes are all located in Ireland rather than Scotland. Stone is clearly a popular building material.
Finally, we included this one even though it was pretty far away from us. It was hard to see the details, but having the North Atlantic Ocean behind them made for an interesting photograph.
We'd love to hear your feedback. Drop us a line and tell us what you think! For me, I'd have to say that I could be happy in most of these places, but I'm a fan of Northern Scotland and the Isle of Skye ❤️.
